  • Thomas is a 5th-year Ph.D. in BME advised by Dr. Helen Lu. His research focuses on biomaterial and scaffold-based approaches to treat periodontitis, a chronic disease which affects the soft tissue surrounding the teeth. Prior to becoming EGSC President, Thomas was EGSC Vice President for 2024 and GoBME President for 2023.

  • I'm a second-year EE PhD candidate in Prof. Keren Bergman's Lightwave Research Laboratory. I love integrated circuits of all kinds! It’s been great meeting the graduate students here at Columbia, and I look forward to getting to know many more. Outside of research life, I enjoy going out with friends to explore the sights and foods of the City, and playing either an FPS or with my friends' pets ^_^

  • Sen. Matthew Beck is a Mechanical Engineering Ph.D. student in the School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) studying 2-D materials. Matthew is from Monmouth County, New Jersey, and earned a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rowan University. • Hi everyone! My name is Jonovan and I am a first-year MS/PhD student in the Thomopoulos Lab! I was born and raised in the Bay Area, California, and I graduated from UC Irvine in 2024. As an ex-baseball player who underwent a series of knee surgeries, I came to Columbia to contribute to state-of-the-art orthopedic research! When I'm not in the lab, you'll find me watching baseball games (Go Giants!), cooking at home, or exploring New York's diverse culinary scene!

  • Hi hi! I'm a third year PhD in the Nerurkar Lab working on intestinal morphogenesis, so you'll often find me surrounded by chicken eggs in lab! Outside of lab, I spend a non-zero amount of time cooking, planning what to cook, or grocery shopping. I love trying new recipes or eating at new restaurants with friends. also like to dabble in lots of different things like ice skating, crocheting, video editing, calligraphy, etc.

  • Hi! I am so delighted to be your interschool chair for 2025. I am a third-year PhD student in Nadeen Chahine’s lab in the orthopedic department. I work on the intervertebral disc and am coming up with tissue engineering and small molecule solutions for disc degeneration. In my free time, I love exploring the city for new restaurants and bars! I also have an AMC pass and love going to see new movies in the theater (usually while smuggling dinner in with me lol). If I’m not at the movies, you’ll catch me reading (probably a thriller !)

  • I'm Divya, a first year MSBA student. I did my undergrad in Data Science & Analytics at NUS (National University of Singapore). After graduating from NUS, I worked at VISA (the credit card company) for 2 years before I came to Columbia to pursue my masters.

I'm a lover of the arts! I did art as an option for my IGCSEs and I was teaching art to kids as a side hustle for three years. Fun fact - I did a minor in Theatre Studies at NUS, and I love performing! I've been learning Indian classical music since I was 10. I play a string instrument called the "Veena", and I absolutely love it! I can't wait to catch all the different art museums and theatre/music shows around the city!

Feel free to reach out to me if you need anything, or you just want to have a coffee chat!

  • Hi everyone! I'm Dhruv Bhatt, a first-year Master's student in Mechanical Engineering specializing in Energy Systems. I thrive on connecting with people and learning from their experiences – and I'm always up for a great podcast discussion! If you see me around campus, please don't hesitate to say hello – I love having meaningful conversations. When I'm not hitting the books in the library, you can find me at Dodge Fitness Center either shooting hoops or working out. As your Career and Alumni Chair, I'm eager to hear your ideas for events and initiatives. Feel free to email me with any suggestions about how we can make the most of this role together!

  • I’m a third-year ChemE PhD student in the Obermeyer Group. My research is focused on protein engineering and sustainable materials. I was born and raised in St. Catherine, Jamaica and I love painting, makeup, photography, and pretty much anything “artsy”! Feel free to reach out to me by email if you have any concerns or DEI-related suggestions :)
