Why do you want to represent your department as a DR?

I want to connect the whole department and make it more bonded as a whole to facilitate communication among students and different labs. This is my last chance to celebrate real academic culture and campus social before jumping back into the industry in the future. I hope to know more interesting people and create activities to contribute to the department.

I served as the president at Hopkins Undergraduate Society for the Applied Mathematics during my last two undergraduate years at the JHU. It is the only student group under applied mathematics & statistics department. With five other officers, I devoted myself to organizing events that inspire the love of science in others. We not only invited speakers to give talks, but also arranged networking dinners for faculty members and students. Most of the events we organized were open to both college students and high school students, and it is not unusual that a single event would attract hundreds of people.
